About the Event
No matter one’s politics, taxes are often paid grudgingly and with reluctance. Yet taxes also support the infrastructure and services on which our communities rely.
On Oct. 8, Mike Owen of Common Good Iowa will join Plain Conversation for a discussion of Iowa’s tax policy. He’ll explain recent changes to the state’s tax code and what the effects are now and going forward. He’ll also discuss inequities in the current plan and share ideas for how the state can create a fairer and more just system of taxation.
Common Good Iowa is a nonpartisan, nonprofit public policy research organization. Before Owen joined Common Good Iowa, he worked for more than two decades as a reporter and editor. He also served on his local school board.
Following his presentation, Owen will take questions from the audience submitted through the Sioux County Democrats’ Facebook page.
